The European satellite business SES (SESFg.LU) announced on Monday that it had secured a $89.6 million contract to supply the U.S. army with its commercial satellite communications (COMSATCOM) services.
According to the corporation, the five-year contract was given to its SES Space & Defensedivision. It will provide the Department of Defense (DoD) programs, Combat Service Support, and other U.S. government organizations with its strategic transport and communications network.
The U.S. Department of Defense chose the European team in May of this year to provide a space-based network for enhanced data transfer.
It declared in July that it will collaborate with the Luxembourg government to create and deploy a new defense satellite.
